At Ayur – Küche & mehr, we believe food is medicine — and cooking is a mindful act of self-care. Founded in 2015 in Willich, Germany, our mission is to share the wisdom of Ayurvedic nutrition through hands-on classes, personalized consultations, and vibrant community events.

About the founder

Sharvari Bhalerao

Sharvari Bhalerao was born in Mumbai, India. Her deep connection to Ayurveda began at home and deepened through her scientific studies and personal lifestyle management.

She is passionate about making Ayurvedic nutrition accessible, practical, and empowering—especially for people who want to find their way in modern everyday life.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical systems in the world, originated in India. The word "Ayur" means life, and the word "Veda" means knowledge. It is therefore about the knowledge or teaching of life. The oldest texts on Ayurveda are called Samhitas and are approximately 2,000 years old. Ayurvedic scholars, called Rishis, wrote the texts and passed them down through generations. The most famous texts are Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Vagbhat Samhita.

In Hindu belief, Dhanvantari is considered the physician of the gods and the origin of the healing arts. Annapurna is the goddess of food. Both are very important to an Ayurvedic lifestyle.

​ Ayurveda is based on three pillars: medicine, nutrition, and wellness. These three pillars are intended to maintain and promote one's health to achieve an optimum balance between body, mind, spirit & the environment.

What is Ayurvedic nutrition?

Ayurvedische Ernährung ist die Praxis, sich nach den Prinzipien des Ayurveda zu ernähren. Im Mittelpunkt steht eine individuell abgestimmte Ernährung – im Einklang mit Ihrem Körpertyp (Dosha), Ihrer Verdauung, Ihrem Lebensstil und der jeweiligen Jahreszeit, um das allgemeine Gleichgewicht und die Gesundheit zu fördern.

Es geht dabei nicht nur um Lebensmittel, sondern auch um das Bewusstsein dafür, was, wann und wie man isst – abgestimmt auf die eigene Konstitution.

Dosha-spezifische Ernährung

Meals are planned and prepared according to the 3 primary Doshas:

Pitta – Fire + Water

Vata – Air + Ether

Kapha – Earth + Water

Activate & Optimize Agni

Strengthening digestive fire (Agni) is central to proper assimilation and health.

Include the 6 Rasas (Tastes)

Each meal should balance sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and astringent to nourish body and mind.

Understanding your Dosha helps you make better decisions about food, habits, and self-care — so you can feel your best, every day.
